Here are the positions for which we are currently seeking candidates:

  • Manager, Salsa Labor Node Support

    Salsa Labs is seeking a tech-savvy individual with experience in the labor movement and online organizing to work with the Node Management team to provide timely and effective technical and strategic support for Salsa Labor clients with large databases and complex online strategies. This is a crucial role in our organization and one that can help shape both the direction of the Salsa platform and be at the vanguard of the labor movement in general – directly implementing new strategies in organizing and finding new ways to merge online and field work.

    The Manager, Salsa Labor Node Support will manage a team of 2-3 other Node Managers and support specialists provide direct strategic and technical support to Salsa Labor clients, which includes the management of the AFL-CIO, dozens of the most important labor unions in the country such as CWA, AFT, AFCSME, and over 900 of their local affiliates. Salsa Labor will link all of these millions of labor members to more effectively organize and advocate on issues that matter to working families.


    Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic and technical advice to large clients on how they can be using Salsa tools more effectively for their online efforts through regular proactive phone and in-person meetings
    • Quickly respond to support questions from specific clients with an immediate answer or indication that request has been triaged
    • Serve as a liaison between clients and tech staff to successfully accomplish custom development projects
    • Test, troubleshoot and document bugs and feature improvements for existing and newly developed Salsa applications (“packages”)
    • Help clients measure and evaluate success (i.e. pulling custom queries from the database and analyzing)
    • Manage large-scale integration projects with Clients
    • Develop case studies based on the success of clients
    • Document and share best practices within the Salsa community
    • Maintain and update support documentation in SalsaCommons.org
    • Monitor and comment on forum topics posted on SalsaCommons.org
    • Conduct online training and strategy sessions
    • Respond to support requests from specific clients after hours, if necessary

    Qualifications:

    • Experience working with web-based services and technologies
    • Excellent project management skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Knowledge of database operations – mySQL strongly preferred
    • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS
    • Willingness to learn new technologies
    • Experience with online communication, organizing, advocacy and fundraising tactics, strategies and best practices
    • Self motivation and ability to work in fast-paced environment with little supervision
    • Understanding of the labor movement and a commitment to helping progressive organizations and campaigns develop the most effective online programs as possible
    • Ability to successfully prioritize and juggle competing priorities from multiple demanding clients at a time

  • Salsa Support Specialist

    Locations: Austin, TX and Washington, DC

    Salsa Labs is seeking a tech-savvy individual with experience in the labor movement and online organizing to work with the Node Management team to provide timely and effective technical and strategic support for Salsa Labor clients with large databases and complex online strategies. This is a crucial role in our organization and one that can help shape both the direction of the Salsa platform and be at the vanguard of the labor movement in general – directly implementing new strategies in organizing and finding new ways to merge online and field work.

    The Salsa Support Specialist will work with members who have questions and issues related to data imports, reports, complex queries and other related items. S/he will also assist with first line technical support when available. Additional duties of tracking technical support requests, maintaining and updating quality technical documentation and serving as a liaison between the technical team and Salsa community. While we cannot immediately resolve every support request, the Salsa Support Specialist will help to quickly address initial requests for support, and ensure that communication is maintained until a resolution is achieved.


    Responsibilities:


    • Triage support requests as they come in via phone and e-mail
    • Guarantee two day communication window on all support tickets
    • Resolve or delegate support issues
    • Resolve escalated tickets related to issues within your specialty
    • Assist in resolving other escalated tickets whenever possible
    • Document and report on usage of software and user preferences
    • Maintain and update support documentation in SalsaCommons.org
    • Monitor and comment on forum topics posted on SalsaCommons.org
    • Conduct online training and strategy sessions

    Necessary Skills

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Pleasant phone manner
    • Ability to work well and keep a calm manner under pressure
    • Tech savvy
    • Familiarity with basic operations of multiple web browsers
    • Ability to learn quickly

    Preferred Skills

    • Knowledge of MySQL
    • Basic knowledge of internet technologies: TCP/IP, DNS and routing, SSH, etc.
    • Knowledge of DemocracyInAction’s Salsa or other online CRM (contact relationship management databases) is desirable, but not a requirement

  • Software Engineer - Salsa Core

    As a member of the Salsa Core team, you will be working closely with developers within the company as well as 3rd party developers to define the capabilities of the entire Salsa software platform. Your projects will include -- but not limited to -- improving performance and scalability, defining new APIs, and software architecture analysis.

    We're looking for folks who are dedicated to using their tech skills for progressive causes!


    Skills Should Include:

    • 2+ years software development experience for Junior Engineers, 5+ years for Senior Engineers in Java and JavaScript
    • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
    • Familiarity and/or interest in learning and experimenting with frameworks and multiple APIs.
    • Excellent project management and communications skills. Candidates should have the ability to speak effectively with non technical staff, use creativity and a high degree of technical and professional judgment in order to resolve software problems in non-routine situations.

  • Lead Product Manager

    Lead Product Manager

    Think software should work differently? Got a vision, the tech chops to structure it, and the ability to convince others it's important?

    WiredForChange is seeking a Product Manager to drive Salsa packages from specs to deployment. The ideal candidate has some background actually writing software (off-hour side projects don't quite cut it),the ability to explain why a feature belongs -- or doesn't, and the guts to cut critical features to hit a deadline. Familiarity with the online organizing space is best - familiarity with building web applications is a must.

    Some responsibilities .....

    • Collection and prioritization of requirements from prospects, clients, domain experts, technology visionaries, market experts, products from competing vendors, etc.
    • Developing product specs, and convincing smart engineers that the specs aren't junk
    • Monitoring new technologies and how to integrate them into the product
    • Evangelizing new products within the company -- and to the outside

    • The CTO and engineering team to make sure your vision is turning out as you hope

  • Marketing Manager

    Marketing Manager

    Salsa Labs is seeking an experienced Marketing Manager to join our growing Business Development team. The position’s overall goal is to broaden our audience of potential users, enhance our brand reputation, and convert prospective users into clients. This position is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level person with experience in design, marketing, and web who is eager to make his or her mark in the social change movement in a dynamic environment.

    The Marketing Manager will coordinate both online (websites) and offline (print) materials and projects, develop and implement a coordinated marketing and advertising programs based on the roll-out of new products and programs, manage program budgets, and track and report on results. Working with the entire Biz Dev team, the Marking Manager will develop and implement plans aligned with the organization’s strategic goals and will report to the SVP, Business Development.

    Responsibilities:

    • Identifying new opportunities, whether paid, earned or “free” for raising the organization’s profile and enhancing its reputation among prospective users and referral resources accessed by prospective users;
    • Support Business Development team by producing compelling and graphically sophisticated presentations and materials
    • Full management of SalsaLabs.com website which includes:
    • Responsible for assisting in the day-to-day programming of key areas of website, including the homepage, special features, blogs and other key sections of the site
    • Responsible for ensuring that all content produced and published fits the overall brand and site strategy for that property. This includes providing direction to bloggers, editors, and other individuals preparing content (including, but not limited to text, graphics, audio and video)
    • Handle ongoing site operations including videos, images, sales promos, bios and other elements
      Responsible for understanding site performance via web-based tracking tools and keeping an eye on competition and trends, implementing findings into the overarching strategic plan
    • Collaborate with sales team to create proposals in response to RFPs with custom graphic design and document creation
    • Track overall marketing program progress and prepare final reports for SVP of Business Development
      Work with team on the design and execution of:
    • Marketing materials including product description sheets, presentations, case studies and other program collateral
    • Developing event-specific marketing collateral
    • Development of online marketing programs, including search engine marketing and social media
    • Producing and editing email newsletters, postcards, and other promotions
    • Preparing and managing production schedules for all campaigns
    • Managing outside designers as necessary
    • Maintaining general expertise in current online communications practices and testing and implementing nontraditional outreach channels as possible

    Qualifications:

    • Creative and innovative marketer with at least 3 years of experience in marketing, design, and web
    • A passion for cultivating new opportunities for growth and visibility. An entrepreneurial nature married to a service-providing orientation and an ability to act creatively and nimbly in response to the unexpected
    • Exceptional design skills and the ability to manage design projects
    • Experience with multi-channel integrated marketing programs: print, web, direct mail, mobile, and video
      Portfolio of work that demonstrates excellent presentation creation, concept development and creative thinking
    • Passionate about execution and excellence with flawless attention to detail
    • Intimate familiarity with the Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), PowerPoint, and other presentation software
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high energy organization
    • Knowledge of web technologies, media production, web page design, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods
    • Strong writing skills, specifically to fit the voice of the overall brand/site strategy. Ability to write strong, compelling headlines and lure the audience forward with words and visuals
    • Analytical skills; ability to measure success
    • HTML, CSS, experience with content management systems, and web development skills are a huge plus
    • Knowledge and passion for the political and non-profit sectors is a huge plus

    Salsa Labs is seeking a tech-savvy Account Manager for the Nonprofit team at Salsa Labs. Account Mangers will do a little bit of everything on the business side of the company from Business Development, Sales, Marketing, and Account Management, and they specialize in a particular sub-sector within the Nonprofit vertical. This position will report to the Nonprofit Director.

    Responsibilities:

    • Account Management: At Salsa Labs, we are incredibly client-focused, and providing a high-quality experience for our clients from the first day of a sales cycle to day they have their most successful (or least successful) campaign is paramount to everything we do. Teaching a client to be successful and self-sufficient at the same takes skill, and managing that balance is important in your daily role. As the primary contact and liaison to the rest of the company, you will have the opportunity to provide strategic guidance and best practices to our clients and you will be asked to advocate for your clients and provide the rest of the company with feedback on your clients’ experiences.

    • Business Development: Building and managing partnerships with some of our leading consulting and partners is critical to our continued growth. Our partners are not only driving our clients success—they are industry thought-leaders and making sure they get good service and that they get their voices heard in our product roadmap process is in the best interests of all of our organizations.

    • Marketing: Once you have helped a client succeed, documenting that success is important to the nonprofit industry and to Salsa Labs. Documenting those stories and speaking about them at events will also be a part of your role.

    • Sales: Although we firmly believe that building strong partnerships and serving clients well are the most important ways to grow the company, our Account Managers need to be comfortable pitching our products, writing proposals, and getting contracts signed.

    Qualifications:

    • Proven Account Management, Business Development, or Sales skills required to create, maintain and enhance client relationships
    • 1-2 years of Account Management, Project Management, Sales, Field, or Online Marketing experience

  • National Outreach Associate

    Location: Washington, DC, Seattle, WA or Missoula, MT

    Be a part of the hippest, do-gooder tech non-profit  headquartered in Washington, DC that helps nonprofit organizations organize online. DemocracyInAction is seeking a technology-savvy individual interested in working at the intersection of technology and social change to join our outreach team. The primary role of this position is to expand the reach of DemocracyInAction in the nonprofit community and help organizations organize effectively online with the “Salsa” organizing platform. This position will report and assist the Director of Outreach for DemocracyInAction.

    Responsibilities:

    • Outreach and Marketing:  Although we firmly believe that building strong partnerships and serving clients well are the most important ways to grow, our goal is to reach as many progressive nonprofit organizations with annual budgets of less than $1M as possible and help them develop and sustain an effective online program.. You need to have a thorough understanding how Salsa serves nonprofits, manage the process to turn prospective clients into active clients, and meet quarterly goals. This also includes educating prospective clients about Salsa. You will schedule of outreach-focused webinars, track registration, and follow-up with attendees. You will answer phones and emails for our front line support for outreach related questions. Marketing is an important aspect of our outreach. This includes online advertising, marketing and attending conferences in our sector, and promoting DIA in social media like Facebook and Twitter.
    • Account Management and Training: At DemocracyInAction, a high-quality experience for our clients from the first day of the new client cycle to day they have their most successful campaign is paramount . This includes pro-active outreach, monitoring satisfaction, providing strategic advise on the use of the Salsa organizing platform and documenting feedback. You’ll also be responsible for writing and distributing case studies and organizing quarterly workshops for existing and prospective clients.
    • Partner Outreach: Building and managing partnerships with consultants and partners is critical to our continued growth. Developing and maintaining relationships with like-minded progressive organizations is an important part of this role.

    Qualifications:

    • 3 years+ non-profit experience in organizing, online communications, or fundraising; Account Management, Project Management, or Online Marketing experience preferred.
